He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands

Shelby Yates

It’s funny how some things just hit you out of the blue. You’ll be going along all rainbows and sunshine then something completely turns your world upside down. In the last few weeks, our whole world has been shaken. With the COVID-19, we’ve had to adjust to so many changes. Who would’ve imagined there would be a line of people waiting to get down the toilet paper aisle?! Some people overreact, while some people don’t seem to react at all. We stay home. We worry about our elderly family members, and those with compromised immune systems. We limit trips to the grocery store. We practice social distancing. We do all the things we’re told to do. It’s so easy to get caught up in the chaos surrounding the virus. All we hear on the news is COVID-19. Why do we find it so easy to let the voices of reporters drown out the voice of the One who is truly in control?

What is God trying to teach us with all this time on our hands? All we ever say is “Oh, I would do XYZ if only I had more time.” Guess what? Now all we have is time! Maybe it’s a way to bring us all closer together. Maybe it’s an opportunity to show God that in all circumstances, we will turn to Him and trust Him. Maybe you’ll be sitting scrolling Instagram one night and see a few simple words: He’s got the whole world in His hands. And it will take you back to that childlike innocence where you sing that song and truly believe it with no doubt or anxiety. And maybe that will shake your foundation in a good way. Maybe all of this goes back to the basics. It’s easy to be scared throughout all of this uncertainty, but God literally has the whole world in His hands. He created it! There are literally no greater hands this world could possibly be in.

Maybe what God is trying to teach us through all of this is the beauty in simplicity.

A simple walk together as a family. A simple movie night as a family. A simple family dinner.

Moments where we all actually sit down and talk to one another and create these wonderful memories.

We are so used to going and doing whatever we want whenever we want. Maybe this is God’s way of shaking us. Reminding us that He is in control and now is the time to turn towards Him. He’s got the whole world in His hands. Always has, always will.

🌻Be the light, spread the joy, glorify the Lord.🌻

XOXO,
